GAMESTOP MOTION DESIGN

At GameStop I was motion design lead for high-profile video projects. As well as developing for the web and designing other material, something I love to do is motion design and animation. I was able to grow and expand my abilities during my time there by taking on challenging projects, and I also mentored my peers on creating motion graphic sequences in order to enable them to up-skill in this area. Below you can find various examples of the motion design work I created during my time there.

GAME OF THE YEAR INTRO ANIMATION

This intro sting was created for a round-table discussion program produced for YouTube. This focused on the Game of the Year which is a big annual event in the gaming calendar. News and announcements usually follow a live event called ‘The Game Awards’ and our coverage followed that, so there was an added time pressure to get this out while the news was still relevant.

LOYALTY PROMO ANIMATION

Here you can see one such promotional animation, created at different sizes that could be dropped within various videos or campaign material. The reason for the difference sizes is that the content can be deployed across different social channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. On Instagram, these could be used in Stories with ‘swipe up’ functionality, which could direct traffic to the Loyalty signup page.

ICYMI INTRO ANIMATION

This animation was created to introduce a YouTube news program called ‘In Case You Missed It’. I used some techniques such as trim paths, background blurs and shifting colour channels to achieve the right look.

GAMESTOP PLAYS INTRO

As mentioned at the beginning I love animation as much as some other areas I’m interested in including other types of design and web development. As motion design is so prevalent in video production today I’m delighted to have gained these skills but am also excited to create and learn more and to expand my experience further in this area in the future.
